In The End

On October 20, 2006, an odd little movie written and directed by John Cameron Mitchell (of Hedwig and the Angry Inch fame) hit the movie theaters. It was called Shortbus and was restricted to be seen only by people over the age of 18 due it’s very graphic and very real sexual intercourse scenes.

I found this movie by accident, thinking it was a movie that my partner and I had watched about some mental patients stealing a short bus and going on a joy ride. I was oh so wrong! When I saw the first scene I realized I had made a mistake, but I decided to keep watching. That opening scene turned out to be nothing compared to the scenes that followed, and I quickly discovered why it was 18+ only!

At the end of this quirky little sex movie was a quirky little slow guitar/violin to full on marching band song written by Scott Matthew, and performed by Justin Bond and the Hungry March Band, somewhat appropriately titled In The End. I have included here the lyrics to the song, as well as a link so that you can hear for yourself how good it is.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. (Click on the song title to open the song in a new tab)

We all bear the scars
Yes, we all feign a laugh
We all cry in the dark
Get cut off before we start

And as your first act begins
You realize they’re all waiting
For a fall, for a flaw, for the end

And there’s a path stained with tears
Could you talk to quiet my fears
Could you pull me aside
Just to acknowledge that I’ve tried

As your last breath begins
Contently take it in
Cause we all get it in
The end

And as your last breath begins
You find your demon’s your best friend
And we all get it in
The end

Windows Live Essentials 2012!

The link above is for a CNET download page for a copy of Windows Live Essentials 2012, a free set of programs that Microsoft had created that I used to use all of the time.

Included in this set of programs is a mail program, a messaging program, a movie making program and the one program that I used the most: Windows Live Writer. You can install all of the included programs, or select just those programs that interest you, like I did with Live Writer.

Live Writer is basically a blogging program that you use directly from your desktop rather than having to log in directly in order to post on your blog, and before the website became corrupted and lost, all of the previous posts had been created using Live Writer.

This is why I was thrilled when I discovered that CNET still had the program available for download and installation!

I am writing this post using Live Writer, and the pages Graden, Lucas, and Rain were also created (or recreated) using Live Writer.

It seems to work just fine on my Windows 10 laptop, with no issues connecting with my website or posting pictures with the same properties I designated in the program.

So, if you want to be able to post without having to log in directly to your website, I would suggest getting a copy of Windows Live Essentials now, before it’s no longer available!

I Love Cars, but…

Today as I was driving home from work, I was passed by an SUV that made my 72mph look like I was standing still. All I noticed about it was that it was ugly, and it was an Infiniti.

So when I got home I got online and did some research to find out what kind of Infiniti this monstrosity was only to discover that it was even worse than I thought!

The vehicle in question is the Infiniti QX80, and I am going to share some pics with you so that you will see just what I am talking about! (All pictures of the QX80 come from Amazon Vehicles, which can be accessed HERE. Any other pictures will be credited as appropriate.)

Ah, Technology… Part 2

So, in Part 1 I told you about my dealings with a couple funky Nokia phones. And it got worse from there.

For his birthday, I got my partner a new video card and power supply for his desktop. After they arrived, I then shut down his computer and opened it up. I took out the old video and old power supply. As I tried to install the new power supply, I discovered that there was no way in hell this thing was going to fit into his computer case. It was just too cramped in there.

Fortunately, we discovered that the power supply he had was perfectly capable of powering the new video card, so I installed the old power supply and new video card. I then booted up the computer to find nothing worked.

Odd… It should have booted just fine. Continue reading »

Ah, technology…. Part 1

Technology and I have been having a bit of a battle in recent weeks.
It started about 8 weeks ago when my phone (a Nokia Lumia 1020 running Windows 8.1) decided to get screwy. The screen started flashing like a strobe light, and the phone played through my entire collection of ringtones before turning off. Turning it back on, I discovered that the battery life, which had been fully charged, was now at a measly 5%.
I shut it down, booted it back up, and discovered the battery life was now at 2%. So I turned off the screen, plugged it into my work computer and just left it, praying that no one would call me and possibly get a dropped connection. By the end of the day, it had charged back up to just under 80%. Continue reading »

Chicken Tortilla Stew

Recipe  Comments Off on Chicken Tortilla Stew
Jul 162014

So, last night I made a huge pot of Chicken Tortilla Stew. It’s a rich, creamy, and filling stew that is NOT for anyone on a diet! It’s great right off the stove, but so much better the next day!

And it’s also somewhat versatile in that you can use whatever vegetables you prefer, or no vegetables at all.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 20 large or 40 small flour tortillas
  • 2 cans evaporated milk
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 20 chicken bullion cubes (or enough chicken soup base to make 16 cups)
  • 16 cups of water
  • Wondra flour
  • two bags of frozen vegetables of your choice (I use corn, usually)
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Cook the chicken breast however you want! Broiled, baked, grilled, boiled. Doesn’t matter as long as it is thoroughly cooked and cut up into bite-sized pieces and not heavily seasoned.
  2. In a very large pot, combine the water and the chicken bullion/soup base and bring it to a boil.
  3. As the water is heating, spread Wondra flour onto each of the tortillas. Then stack the tortillas and cut into strips about 1/2 inch by 2 inches.
  4. Once your water/bullion is boiling, add your chicken, 2 sticks of butter, frozen vegetables, and evaporated milk. Bring back to a boil, mixing as needed to keep solids off the bottom of the pot.
  5. Once boiling again, add all of the tortilla strips, and stir. Turn down the heat and simmer until the broth has thickened. You might need more Wondra in the mix in order to thicken it.
  6. It’s done once the broth is thick like a chowder.

If you would rather have a soup, don’t add the Wondra. The tortillas will soak up much of the broth, and some of the pieces will even dissolve into the mix, so it will thicken, but will be thinner without the flour.

Give it a try! You’ll love it!

Disney Princesses and Villains as Men!

So, I was going through Buzzfeed and found this article about an artist who was painting some of Disney’s most iconic princesses and villains as opposite genders (article here) and came across this picture:

Maleficent! by Sakimichan

by Sakimichan

What an utterly brilliant design!

Maleficent was always one of my favorite Disney villains simply because she turned into a dragon, and I have a thing for dragons. And the artist does amazing work with making it believable that Maleficent could, in fact, be male!

You can see more of Sakimichan’s work at her DeviantArt page here!

Why I am no longer logging into the anti-social media sites

Facebook, Google+. Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn,…

Good grief! It all just get’s to be such a pain in the ass to have to deal with all of the social media bullshit sites!

Log into Facebook and I am bombarded with post after post of political or religious articles telling me what is wrong with America, what is wrong with human beings, challenging me (or daring me!) to put some view on my timeline that I may or may not agree with. All I want from Facebook is to be able to log in and see what friends and family that I don’t get to see on a daily basis are doing with their lives. And it looks as if most of them are spending way too much of it posting bullshit from some other sites.

I log into Twitter and I get massive amounts of sponsored tweets that I have to wade through before I can see what people I am actually following have posted. And some of those posts are also of a political/religious website origin.

So I have decided I am no longer going to log into any of these social media companies that I have accounts for, because my own website will post to them for me.

Now, instead of having to log into each separate site, I log into my own website, post something, and all my friends and followers can get the update or the link back to this site. They can leave comments on my site, because I won’t be reading them on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or any other useless social media platform.

Better yet, if they know me well enough to have my cell phone number, they can call me or text me.

Otherwise, I am not going to see what they are posting.

FU Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.

The Last Semester Starts!

So, on Monday, Fredonia begins it’s Spring semester. I don’t start until Tuesday, because that is just how I set up my schedule.

But the great thing is that it is my LAST SEMESTER! After 5.5 years of college, I am more than ready to get back into the real working world.

And as if I wasn’t already excited because it’s my last semester, turns out only 2 of my classes require books for me to purchase, so I am not going to be spending a huge fortune at the bookstore (like last semesters $1500).

And since I only go to classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, I get 4-day weekends every week, though during tax season I will be there on Saturdays doing taxes for low-income and elderly households.

But overall, I cannot wait until May, when I can finally leave class for the last time and start into whatever job I manage to get.

Rebuilding Will Take Some Time

So, I just realized that even though I wasn’t updating this website all that often, I still had a lot of stuff attached to it!

I didn’t lose just the posts, I lost all of the pictures, the pages upon pages of writing I had, as well as all of the sub-domains, which included (and some of you will know what I am talking about) THE ZOMBIE MOVIE SITE!

Also, those of you who had subscriptions to my site will find that you no longer have a subscription. At this point, I am not positive I want to recreate a subscription system, since this set-up I have installed automatically posts everything I put on the website to Twitter, Google+, and Facebook. This means that those people I would normally want to subscribe to the website are already connected to me via those other systems.

Anyway, I am hoping to start getting all of my materials back online as soon as I can, especially the writing portion of the site. I just have to find the original documents and copy/paste them into new pages. I also need to rebuild the photo galleries, which will give me the chance to make some changes, and also put better pictures into the system.

Keep your eyes open, cause as I post this stuff, the site should blast out to the social networks. You should be able to see when I update.
