I was just online with my webhosting account, trying to find out whether I was using Linux-based webhosting or Microsoft-based webhosting as I was asked which one I used by a friend of mine who wanted to create their own web-site. Unfortunately for me, it was not clearly stated which I was using, so I had to call tech support to find the true answer.
This call to tech support made me realize a few things about my webhosting that I thought I would share with you, in case you want to create a website of your own.
The first thing I realized is that I have used 1&1 for just over 5 and a half years. Since the website was created in early 2002, this means that I only used about a year and a half on Yahoo’s webhosting service before transferring over to 1&1.
The next thing I realized is that during all those years with 1&1, I only ever had to call tech support twice: tonight and once before that I can no longer remember what it was but do remember it was something rather small and inconsequential.
And this made me realize the third item: my website has been going a long time and never really gone anywhere, but during most of that time, I have been paying 1&1 $5 a month and have never had an issue with them.
And to me, that is the mark of a great company.
They’re there, and I pay them for their services, but they honestly do not exist in a physical way on my site. I don’t have ads placed by them on my site (something that I feel is inappropriate for any price), there is nothing in the code of my website that reveals who the host is, and unless I announce to the world who they are you would have no clue that this site is not only hosted by them, but registered through them as well.
They are invisible.
And for that I thank them, and heartily recommend them to anyone and everyone that needs webhosting services.
With that in mind, I have placed them in my links bar on the right of the website. Feel free to check them out. Their prices are great, and the features lists are very extensive, even for their cheapest package.
And even the cheapest package gives you plenty of space for website and services, as well as 600 email accounts, and 24/7 phone support (and literally, it took less than 2 minutes to speak with an actual human being both times I had to call).
So, if you are in the market for a new webhost, check out 1&1 and see if what they offer will work for you.
