It’s been almost a week since I posted anything on this site, and I figured that it was time to let everyone know what’s been going on.
My eye is slowly healing, the bruising is much less now than it was a few days ago. The swelling is also down a bit, but overall I am suffering from a lot of pain still (I think from the stitches) so I spend all day in throbbing pain, which is dulled by taking Aleve, and at night take one of the pills I was prescribed. I don’t take them during the day because they totally fuck me up!
Within half an hour after taking the hydrocodone, I am basically comatose. I am not asleep, as I can hear everything going on around me, but I can’t move. I just lay there for about an hour, feeling myself falling further and further into a hellish sleep/coma. When I do finally come out of this coma, I am not refreshed. Instead, I am totally exhausted, feeling like I have been up for days.
I have to return to the hospital tomorrow to have the stitches removed. I am not looking forward to this at all. The last time I had stitches removed was from my hand, and while they didn’t hurt, I am leery about what my eye is going to do. The skin is very tender, so I may feel some pain as the stitches are taken out. That’s not going to be fun.
But the good news is that I can still see out of my eye, but it’s much blurrier than it used to be. I have a feeling there is some permanent damage. The ophthalmologist will be able to tell me more about that once I see him.
Anyway, that is where things sit at the moment.
