Classes begin again in just 13 days, and to be honest, I am a little apprehensive about it. This semester I will be taking some rather advanced classes in Math and Economics, and I honestly didn’t quite understand the lower classes I have already taken.
I am also taking my first ever foreign language class. I speak English only, and after 40 years of speaking that, I am about to learn how to speak French. This out to be interesting – and completely new. Fortunately for me, I have a live-in tutor in the form of my partner, who used to be a French Teacher. I should ace the class. If I don’t, I have a serious problem!
My biggest issue this semester is that I don’t have any classes that set out to be fun classes, like I did last semester. Fun classes are those that you take just because they have some sort of appeal to you, like Creative Writing and Business Law were last semester. This semester, all of my classes are requires classes. So I end up with Pre-calculus, US History (which is to be AFTER 1865, since at no time during my public education years did a history class ever get to the Civil War), Microeconomics, Astronomy (which seemed to be the best science class) and so forth.
On Monday, the 16th, I will be able to know more about whether or not I am going to like the classes, because I can purchase my books on that day. This will give me a week to look through them, read some of them, and just prepare myself for the semester to come.
What will be good is getting back into the school rhythm. It will be good to see which of my school friends have returned, and to meet new friends and professors. And to see some of my old professors again. There are a couple that even though I won’t be in there classes again I just love talking to!
Anyway, 13 days and counting, and I can start up with the homework complaints again! I can’t wait!
